Peru's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Carlos Pareja, highlighted on Friday President Keiko Fujimori's work promoting investment in the South American country during her visit to New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly session.
At the UN General Assembly, the Head of State delivered a highly political speech on the Government's general guidelines and her vision of what the country should be, after which she took part in several activities of interest for attracting capital, the diplomat indicated.
"The main point is that she wanted to promote investment, so she attended many forums and held some bilateral meetings aimed at attracting investment to Peru," Pareja stated.
"To this end, she highlighted these axes of her Government: order and political stability," he added in remarks to RPP.
The ambassador underscored that political stability is very important for generating confidence among foreign investors, as well as legal certainty and transparency.
"It has to build confidence. So, this is a process, a process that has started well, auspiciously," Pareja stressed.
The envoy referred to the meeting between the Peruvian President and Colombian Vice President Jose Manuel Restrepo, with whom she discussed the Andean Community relaunch, as well as a forthcoming meeting between both countries' presidents and cabinets.
The ambassador also stressed President Fujimori's meeting with Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, who had held executive positions on Wall Street before meeting King Willem-Alexander.
"So, several years ago, she changed her professional activity, which is finance. She promotes microfinance, especially on education issues. And she had a very cordial, auspicious, and very professional meeting with President Fujimori," Pareja indicated.
"It is worth highlighting that this was a meeting between two professional women," he concluded.
