IACHR meets with authorities, social organizations in Lima, Arequipa and Juliaca

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) holds various meetings with authorities and social organizations in the cities of Lima, Arequipa, and Juliaca (Puno region).

As reported by the inter-American organization on its official Twitter account, these meetings are intended to gather information on social protests and the current context.

First Vice-President and Rapporteur for Peru of the IACHR, Commissioner Stuardo Ralon; Commissioner Joel Hernandez; as well as the technical team deployed to the country participate in said events.

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is visiting Peru to observe the human rights situation in the context of the institutional crisis and the social protests which have been taking place since the first days of December 2022.


The IACHR's visit takes place from January 11 to 13 and aims to monitor the human rights situation in the context of social protests. The delegation plans to visit Lima and other cities across the country.



The Commission will meet with public authorities, civil society organizations, and other relevant actors.

As a result of the visit, in the exercise of its functions, the IACHR plans to publish its observations, conclusions, and recommendations to the Peruvian State.
