Colombia's GHL Hotels, operator of Sonesta Hotels in Peru, announced its partnership with Quimera group from Arequipa to build two Sonesta hotels, one of them will be located in Quimera City Center in Arequipa city and the other one in El Colca Valley, in Yanque town.
GHL Hotels Peru general manager Carlos Reyes said that Sonesta Hotel in Arequipa will include 96 rooms with an investment of nearly US$8 million with an average cost of US$ 80,000 per room.
He added that the four star-hotel, which construction has already begun, will be focused on the corporate sector. This hotel is expected to be opened by the first quarter of 2012 with a business center built by Quimera.
The 120 square meter Quimera Group business center will host a business club, several offices, higher education centers, banks and government offices; meanwhile the Sonesta hotel will host a convention center with a capacity of 500 people.
The Colca hotel will have a 12,500 square meter area, 28 bungalows, and 80 rooms. This four-star hotel is addressed to the corporate sector. Companies will invest from S$55,000 to US$60,000 per room, totaling an investment of US$4.8 million.
GHL Hotels operates seven hotels in Peru, two of which are located in Lima (in San Isidro and Miraflores districts), one in Arequipa, another one in Puno (Lake Titicaca) and three in Cusco (two in the city and another one in Yucay in the Sacred Valley).
