From Congress Chair to Head of State
Until assuming the leadership of the Peruvian State, Jose Jeri Ore served as Chairman of the Congress of the Republic — a position to which he was elected for the 2025-2026 term in the Board elections on July 26 of this year.
On that occasion, he was joined by Fernando Miguel Rospigliosi Capurro as First Vice Chairman (current Chairman of Congress), Waldemar Cerron Rojas as Second Vice Chairman, and Ilich Freddy Lopez Ureña as Third Vice Chairman.
Political and Academic Career
Jeri Ore represented Lima at Congress.
He ran on the parliamentary list of Partido Democratico Somos Peru (We Are Peru Democratic Party) in the 2021 general elections.
Jeri Ore is a lawyer, graduated from Inca Garcilaso de la Vega University, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Universidad Nacional Federico Villarreal, and has a master’s degree in Public Policy Management from the same institution.
He has been affiliated with Somos Peru since 2014, holding various positions within the party: alternate legal representative, First Vice Chairman, National Secretary of Doctrine, Training and Political Education, and National Secretary of Youth.
Parliamentary Work
At Congress, Jeri Ore chaired the Budget and General Account of the Republic Committee (2023–2024). He also served as spokesperson for the Somos Peru parliamentary group.
During his legislative tenure, he stood out for his participation in affairs related to public administration, fiscal transparency, and decentralization.
