English-American actress, Geraldine Chaplin, who is in the Peruvian capital to attend the 15th Lima Film Festival, said she expects to try Peru's so promoted gastronomy, especially quite spicy dishes as ceviche.

“I am not planning to try one, but many dishes. I know you eat quite spicy here, and I like spicy food and ceviche,” she was quoted as saying by RPP, a local news station.

Charles Chaplin’s daughter arrived to Lima from Spain on Tuesday afternoon invited by the organizers to lead the jury of the festival that kicks off August 5 and lasts until August 13.

In brief comments to the press, the actress also said that she looked forward to watch Peruvian films and learn a bit about Peru’s cinematography, of which she admitted not having seen much at all.

Chaplin also commented that she and her husband, Chilean cinematographer, Patricio Castilla, plan to visit Cusco as well as the Inca city of Machu Picchu, during their 18 day visit to Peru.

Universally known for her first professional acting role as Tonya Gromeko in David Lean’s celebrated “Doctor Zhivago,” filmed in 1965, Chaplin arrived in Lima with her husband on Tuesday afternoon.

Chaplin and Castilla were welcomed by Edgar Saba, director of the Lima Film Festival and the Cultural Center of Peru’s Catholic University (PUCP), the main sponsor of the cinematographic event.

The Goya Award winning actress, now 67, recalled her first visit to Peru, back in 1965, during the promotion tour of Doctor Zhivago, when she stayed only two days in the country.
