Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua on Thursday reiterated that Peru ensures a favorable business climate and a stable legal framework for the development and maturation of foreign investment projects.

His remarks were delivered at a meeting with directors of the main business associations in Italy.

The Peruvian diplomat noted that the macroeconomic figures promote Peru as an ideal country for investments.

Maurtua commented that, according to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Peru will grow more 10% this year and will be one of the fastest-growing economies in South America.

In addition, he mentioned that, according to IMF's World Economic Outlook, Peru had the lowest inflation rate among all Latin American nations in October this year and is the country with the second best credit rating in the region.

During the event, he presented Proinversion's portfolio for the 2021-2022 period, which includes 20 projects worth more than US$6.3 billion in areas including health, sanitation, transportation and communications, energy, production, and education.

The foreign affairs minister stated that Peru maintains government-to-government agreements as a State authorized mechanism for contracting and implementation of infrastructure projects, thus citing the works for the 2019 Pan American Games and the projects being led by the Authority for Reconstruction with Changes as successful examples.

He also conveyed the Peruvian Government's interest in promoting economic revival through foreign investment in large high quality infrastructure works, and for the benefit of populations in various regions across the country.
