The AFC Fiorentina left winger sensational season has not gone unnoticed and teams like Real Madrid, Liverpool or Juventus are after his signature, Live Soccer TV pointed out.
Reports have suggested that all three teams have knocked on Fiorentina's door this past week and put in bids for Juan Manuel Vargas. This is no surprise to those who have followed Vargas this season and during his career.
Since his professional debut for Universatio de Deportes, (Peru), in November 2002, his career has been a model progression of step by step.
After imposing and consistent performances for ´La Crema' for two and a half years he left Peru to play in Argentina for Club Atletico Colon. His adaptation did not take long and he continued to develop his abilities in the Argentinean League.
Just when the 2006 Apertura season was about to commence Europe came calling, specifically Portsmouth and Vargas decided to come and grow as a footballer. However, a deal was not agreed and finally Vargas ended up signing for Serie A club Calcio Catania in 2006 for around $3.3m.
Once again his adaptation was quick and he consolidated himself as an important player of Catania and Serie A and obviously comparisons begun with the all mighty Paolo Maldini. After two seasons in Sicily, he received offers from many important clubs in Europe, finally deciding to move to Tuscany's capital and play for AFC Fiorentina.
Initially he had some problems and the Fiorentina tiffosi begun to ask themselves, why the Della Valle brothers had spent €12m to bring him to Florence. However midway into the season things started to fall into place and he started to show that they did not make a mistake signing him.
This season, his second, Vargas has been nothing less than outstanding. Cesare Prandelli, Fiorentina Manager, decided to advance his position from left back to left winger, despite Vargas desire to play at the back, and he has just exploded in football terms and been a crucial part of Fiorentina's Champions League campaign.
