The outstanding balance of loans granted for home purchases registered a year-on-year growth rate of 6.7% in October 2025, up from 6.6% in September and marking the highest level since March 2023 (6.8%), the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

This increase was mainly supported by the year-on-year rise in mortgage loans granted in local currency, which expanded 7.8% last October compared to 7.7% the previous month, the BCR indicated.

On a monthly basis, it specified that mortgage credit rose 0.8% last October, driven by loans granted in soles, which also advanced 0.8%.

The issuing entity also noted that the preference for financing in soles for home purchases remains in place.

"In October, only 6.3% of loans in this category were granted in U.S. dollars, while the rest were issued in soles," the BCR concluded.
