The BCR indicated that this increase was mainly driven by the year-on-year rise in mortgage loans granted in domestic currency, which rose 7.5% in August compared to 7.2% the previous month.
On a monthly basis, mortgage credit recorded a 0.7% increase in August, driven by loans granted in Peruvian soles, which rose 0.8%.
According to the issuing entity, the preference for financing in soles for home purchases remains.
"Last August, only 6.5% of loans in this category were granted in U.S. dollars, while the remainder was issued in soles," it noted.
