The Third Meeting of the ASEAN–Peru Development Partnership Committee (AP-DPC) was held at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) headquarters in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The event was co-chaired by ASEAN Deputy Secretary-General for the Socio-Cultural Community, San Lwin, and Peru's representative to ASEAN, Ambassador Luis Tsuboyama.

The meeting, held on April 29, was attended by the 11 members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN.

In 2019, Peru acceded to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC). In 2024, it elevated its participation in ASEAN to the status of Development Partner.

Within this framework, the AP-DPC monitors the implementation of shared commitments between Peru and ASEAN for mutual benefit.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) comprises Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Philippines, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.

It ranks as the world's fifth-largest economy, with projected GDP of US$4.51 trillion, expected growth of 4.9% by 2026, and a population exceeding 700 million.

Trade between Peru and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) exceeds US$3.29 billion, with prospects for further growth driven by the recent agreement signed with Indonesia, as well as existing deals with Singapore and Thailand, and within the framework of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) with Malaysia.

These developments create new market opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises and Peruvian exporters, while strengthening people-to-people ties with this dynamic Asia-Pacific region.
