The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday afternoon affirmed that his administration is taking and evaluating measures to reactivate Peru's economy once
The Head of State indicated that the first measures are of a sanitary nature in order to attend to and deal with the disease —with the support of the governing body, which is the Ministry of Health.
In this regard, the top official said that all sectors of the country —public and private— must put forth the effort to contain the spread of coronavirus and
then reactivate the economy.
"So, we have to be thinking about what to do now, but also thinking about the medium and long terms. There are measures that we are working on; obviously, we are going to make them known gradually and progressively," he emphasized.
The statesman specified that "specific measures" are being taken to meet the needs of those who are economically affected by this health emergency in Peru.
On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers and other authorities. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.
Tuesday marks the ninth day of mandatory social isolation.
