To date, the Peruvian Government has allocated S/2.382 billion (about US$670.23 million) with the purpose of attending to the coronavirus (COVID-19) emergency and supporting the economic activities by assisting micro and small businesses, Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva reported on Wednesday.
"The fiscal measures we are taking for the emergency for now focus on two lines of action: the first means dealing with the emergency, for which we have already allocated S/712 million (about US$200.34 million) and the second has to do with economic support, for which we have allocated S/1.670 billion (about US$469.89 million)," she told reporters.
The minister explained that the S/1.670 billion (about US$469.89 million) is composed of S/1.170 billion (about US$329.21 million) for the bonus aimed at the poorest families, S/200 million (about US$56.27 million) for the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) subsidy, and S/300 million (about US$84.41 million) for the business support fund.
"Thus, the package of measures that we have been financing stands at S/2.382 billion (about US$670.23 million)," she stressed.
