Venezuelans who entered Peru until October 31 can
apply for a Temporary Resident Permit (PTP) as late as today, December 31, 2018.
The National Superintendence of Migrations urged Venezuelan citizens —who plan to remain longer than the authorized period of stay— to apply for a PTP before the deadline.
The PTP —issued by the Migrations office— allows Venezuelan citizens to work, study, and access basic services such as health care, within the Peruvian legislation.
It also enables their identification and registration.
Likewise, the Migrations office has informed that over 440,000 PTP applications have been submitted from February 2017 to present.
Out of this number, more than 170,000 cards have been issued, over 234,000 are in process, and the remaining cases were given an appointment to begin the procedure.
Furthermore, PTP holders —whose document is about to expire and who wish to regularize their stay in Peru— must apply for a Special Resident Migration Status, that is granted for a year and is extendable.
