Ricardo Gareca affirmed he is a free-agent coach at the moment since his contract with the Peruvian Soccer Federation (FPF) has come to an end.
"I need time to give some thought to the matter (...) I'm not making a decision until I get enough time," he stated.
"I'm temporarily leaving for Argentina to rest with my family, but I'll be back," he replied when asked about his future with the
national team.
Likewise, the
'Tiger' Gareca finds it gratifying —from any point of view— that his name is on the list of candidates to coach Argentina's national squad.
In his opinion, his team's expectations were not met as he did not expect to be knocked out during the
first round of the tournament.
"It was a hard blow," he emphasized referring to the fact of bowing out of soccer's biggest event.
