PromPeru: Business expectations worth over US$2 billion to be met in 2019

10:21 | Lima, Feb. 27.

The Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) has projected it will meet business expectations worth over US$2 billion in 100 promotional activities abroad.

"This projection is higher than the one posted in 2018, as business expectations stood at around US$1.8 billion in more than 80 events," PromPeru Exports Director Luis Torres expressed.

According to him, these international promotional activities could be fairs, and business rounds, among others. Plus, more Peru Houses will be boosted abroad due to the success of Peru Alpaca Store and Peru House in Beijing.

"We are replicating them to take them to the United States and other places in Asia," Torres told Andina news agency.

Likewise, he indicated these events —outside the Inca country— are increasing in alliance with the private sector.

"We are going to support over 2,500 exporting companies with these 100 promotional activities abroad since we supported some 2,000 in 2018," the PromPeru representative added.

It should be noted Peruvian exports totaled US$47.702 billion last year, thus expanding for a third year in a row (+7.5%) and breaking the historical record of 2012 (US$46.359 billion), according to the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry (Mincetur).
