President Vizcarra: Peru and Ecuador share future of progress and development

16:40 | Quito (Ecuador), Oct. 25.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed Peru and Ecuador share the same history, as well as a common goal aimed at working towards both nations' progress and development.

"There can't be anything separating us in the future," the President stressed.

Moreover, President Vizcarra indicated he shares —with his Ecuadorian counterpart Lenin Moreno— the responsibility and enthusiasm of working for both countries.

"I hope and predict the result of these two days of intense work will benefit both nations," he emphasized.

On this occasion, the top official pointed out his arrival coincides with the anniversary of the 1998 Brasilia Agreement, a peace treaty signed between the two nations.

Within this framework, the Head of State was awarded the National Order of Merit in the rank of Grand Collar.

"I receive this award with much honor and pride (…). It means a lot to me since I receive it on behalf of all Peruvians," he added during the ceremony.

Later, the President was handed over the keys to the Ecuadorian metropolis and named Illustrious Guest.

On Friday, both Heads of State will preside over the 12th Binational Cabinet.
