Peru, Ecuador Presidents meet in Quito

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday was welcomed by Ecuadorian counterpart Lenin Moreno to the Carondelet Palace, where they held a private meeting.

The hosting country's President saluted his guest within the framework of Brasilia Agreement's 20th anniversary. 

During the commemoration ceremony, Peru's top official affirmed this peace treaty holds an important meaning since it represents the definitive reconciliation between the two nations. 

"It consolidated people's long-awaited peace and created the foundations for friendly and productive neighboring relations of mutual benefit (…)," he expressed.

At the end of the gathering, Vizcarra was awarded the National Order of Merit in the rank of Grand Collar. 

Earlier, he placed a wreath —at the Independence Square— to honor the Independence Heroes.
