President Vizcarra: Fight against coronavirus, a cause that involves all Peruvians

00:00 | Lima, Apr. 6.

The fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) is a common cause that involves all Peruvians, hence the importance of maintaining social distancing, a video of President Martin Vizcarra —broadcast by the Presidency of the Republic— recalls.

In the clip, the Head of State notes that family is what matters the most and that the country, that is, the large family of Peruvians, is what we currently need to protect from COVID-19.

According to the top official, the coronavirus crisis reveals that nothing good comes from selfishness and individualism because if people are supportive and take care of the rest, they will be taking care of themselves.

"This is the moment to show everyone how we are on the outside and on the inside as well as what we are capable of. We must give our best, we are working on that, it will not be enough without your support," he said.

The statesman affirmed that it is Peruvians duty to face this pandemic, and to do so, they must comply with the Government's provisions, such as social isolation, in order to achieve the country's goal.

"We wanted to be close to friends and family, we wanted to hug them. But I keep my distance from them because I want to give them a hug later," he stated.

As is known, President Vizcarra and members of the Ministerial Cabinet continue evaluating the current situation in the country and the measures adopted to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30,
the social isolation has been extended thru April 12.
