President Martin Vizcarra on Saturday afternoon confirmed that coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have increased to 1,746 in Peru —out of a total of 17,841 samples taken.
Thus, 16,095 citizens have tested negative.
Within this framework, the Head of State explained that 151 new cases have been reported if compared to the previous day.
Likewise, the top official informed that 285 patients are hospitalized, of whom 88 are currently in Intensive Care Units; the other 197 are not in critical conditions.
Furthermore, he stressed the fact that a total of 914 have managed to overcome the virus.
Moreover, the statesman announced that the number of tests —to be carried out on a daily basis to diagnose whether or not a person was infected with COVID-19— will be expanded.
He indicated that this measure is necessary in order to have a clearer reflection of reality, so that the Government has better elements of judgment to face the disease.
