President: Defense Minister gave everything for Peru until last moments

President Martin Vizcarra on Monday affirmed recently-deceased Defense Minister Jose Huerta undertook his best efforts to improve Peru until the very last moments of his life, adding he is a worthy representative of hardworking Peruvians.

"One of the most important members of our administration passed away (today) at 10:00 AM," the Head of State expressed.

"This fills us with sorrow, but I think the best way to honor his memory is to work for the benefit of you all. The best way to remember him is to do what he did until the very last moment: Work for Peru (…)," the top official added. 

Likewise, he asked everyone present at the ceremony to observe a minute of silence and thanked Huerta for all his support and commitment to the country. 

"He was doing his job as a minister, doing his job as a member of the cabinet, who wants to work for all Peruvians (…)," the statesman said.

According to the Head of State, Huerta died of a heart attack.
 
Remarks were made in Pataz province's Chilia district during the delivery of titles on the occasion of Farmer's Day

As is known, Defense Minister Huerta died at 71 on Monday morning during a visit to the jungle, where he was scheduled to carry out some activities linked to his sector.

He was sworn in on April 2, 2018, by President Martin Vizcarra.
