The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday announced that her administration will seek to relaunch and turn the Pacific Alliance into a determining actor on the international stage, with the aim of achieving concrete benefits for the populations of those countries that comprise said bloc, including Peru.

Within this framework, the Head of State reiterated that Peru will not give up on keeping the Pacific Alliance alive or exercising the bloc's Pro-Tempore Presidency.

Similarly, the top official reminded citizens that this is an integration process which should not be subject to political or ideological interests.

"Now we will have the opportunity to relaunch and turn the Pacific Alliance into a determining actor on the international stage, under the spirit of unity that inspired our countries at the time of its creation (so as) to achieve, above all, concrete results that improve the living conditions of our populations," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

Likewise, the President announced that the Executive Branch has decided to incorporate the Tenth Axis (Foreign Policy) into the Government's General Policy, at the proposal of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

OECD

Moreover, the Head of State stressed that her administration has taken another step towards the objective of achieving Peru's incorporation into the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) —an institution which brings together countries that have achieved high development levels.

In this sense, Mrs. Boluarte referred to the handover, by Prime Minister Alberto Otarola, of the initial memorandum with which the implementation of the roadmap crafted to start the adhesion process to said body begins. Said event took place in France last June.

"Peru's aspiration to join the OECD constitutes a permanent State policy, which recognizes the importance of ensuring that Peru reaches a place alongside the most developed and advanced economies in the world," she indicated.

APEC

Furthermore, top official stressed that in 2024 Peru will assume the Presidency of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum for the third time —an organization that brings together the main economies of the world, such as the United States, Russia, China, among others and account for 60% of world GDP.

"The Peruvian Presidency of APEC represents a clear opportunity to consolidate Peru's international projection in the Asia-Pacific region, contributing to our positioning as an investment and tourism destination in that region, and enhancing our international trade opportunities," she pointed out.

This event took place at Congress headquarters in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
