The
to talk and agree to develop proposals and public works for the benefit of this country.
"I am waiting to reach an agreement, sit down to talk, travel the country together, as well as observe these types of experiences and commitments that this Government has (made), so that from Congress we can see that there are many things to do for the country," he stated.
In this sense, the Head of State indicated that previous administrations had invested approximately S/26 billion (about US$6.735 billion) in currently-stalled public works. Thus, it is necessary to continue working on those projects to provide the population with job opportunities and put public works at the service of the people.
"I publicly repeat to the
Chairman of Congress: we hope that soon we will sit down to talk so that both the Legislative and the Executive (Branches) provide concrete answers, such as this desalination project, to the population," he specified.
"The population can't wait any longer; imagine 13 million Peruvians in Lima who are given water in small bags, although they live close to the sea and rely on this project and this experience. I would like to convene the great professionals and the private sector (…) to promote this work," he expressed.
Similarly, Mr. Castillo pointed out that there are six similar projects to start: two in Callao, and the rest in Moquegua, Lambayeque, Arequipa, and Piura regions.
"If they have to be implemented via (the) government-to-government (mechanism), they must be done immediately," he noted.
"This process to desalinate seawater must be an immediate task, because just like neighbors who wait for water to be delivered, there are also hospitals and schools that wait for it, and if we have these riches, we cannot waste them; let's take advantage of this potential," he concluded.
