Prime Minister Luis Arroyo highlighted the 3.7% growth achieved by Peru's economy last April, stating that it is the result of the measures this government has been implementing.

"But that is not all. In April, compared with the same month last year, the National Superintendence of Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat) recorded 15% growth. It was 18% in May. We hope it will be much higher in June," he said.

The Cabinet chief highlighted that Peruvians should be pleased with these results, adding that they have been made possible by mineral exports, agribusiness, and other productive sectors.

Arroyo made these remarks in Moquegua, where he led a Dialogue Roundtable session convened to address issues in the Coralaque River basin.

He noted that the meeting concluded on "good terms," paving the way to begin resolving this issue.

The government's spokesman emphasized that the ministers participating in the roundtable are all technocrats who have previously served as deputy ministers or directors-general in their respective sectors.

He added that they have further strengthened their experience through their work in government.

"We always travel to all regions of the country because that is our purpose. We will continue working until the last day in office," the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) head stated.

Asked what he would recommend to the new government that will take office on July 28, he said it should continue pursuing Peru's growth objectives and work toward achieving the country's industrialization.

"Let's look at the jungle, let's look at that strength, that development of our Amazon region. We have to look toward the borders, those border places, such as Tumbes, Tacna, and Madre de Dios regions," Arroyo stated.

"We have to develop vibrant border regions, so that all Peruvians feel protected and feel seen by the incumbent government," he concluded.
