16:32 | Vatican City (The Vatican), Nov. 17.
Peruvian artist Walt Wizard presented the hyperrealistic "Risen Jesus" statue to
Pope Leo XIV during an emotional meeting in Vatican City.
On the occasion of the 2025 Jubilee, Walt Wizard was able to stand before the Supreme Pontiff and present his work.
It was created based on scientific studies of the Shroud of Turin and made with medical-grade silicone, the material closest to human skin.
After completing the hyperrealistic "Risen Jesus" statue, Wizard had one mission: to travel to the Holy See and bring his project to the Vatican — something he has just fulfilled at St. Peter's Square, in the presence of Pope Leo XIV, who was born in the United States but also holds Peruvian nationality.
The emotional presentation concluded with a blessing of the Peruvian's work during the meeting with the Holy Father.

"This blessing marks a historic moment, bringing faith, art, and science together in a single spiritual experience. The gift God has given me I also place at the service of faith," Wizard said, visibly moved.
The piece was later presented to the press and the academic community at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, where Luigi Mattei's Shroud Christ and Ricci's Crucifix are exhibited as well.
Wizard added that his project is part of the upcoming international exhibition “The Body of Christ – A Hyperrealistic and Immersive Experience.”
It will travel to various cities around the world with the aim of strengthening faith and promoting spiritual reflection through contemporary art.
