More than 8,000 vulnerable people —including children, adolescents, women, people with disabilities, and older adults— were attended by various State-run entities during the state of health emergency decreed by the Government to face the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
This was reported by the
Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, which specified that the actions were carried out together with charitable societies to boost the implementation of social protection services for the benefit of girls, boys, adolescents, women, people with disabilities, and older adults who are at risk or vulnerable during the current state of emergency.
It specified that the entities have managed to set up 6 new dining rooms in the cities of Chiclayo, Moquegua, and Chimbote; as well as 5 Temporary Assistance Centers in the cities of Chimbote, Cusco, Moquegua, Piura, and Lima.
To date, there are 139 social protection services run by charitable societies, through which a total of 8,400 users are assisted nationwide —including older adults, disabled people, women, children, and adolescents.
The
Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations affirmed that it has been conducting daily monitoring of the services provided by charitable societies in order to guarantee the rights of vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Thursday marks the eighty-eighth day of mandatory social isolation in Peru.
