Peruvian Presidency highlights gov-to-gov agreement signed with UK

13:14 | Lima, Jun. 27.

Thanks to the signing of the Government-to-Government Agreement inked by the Republic of Peru and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a set of reconstruction works will be executed with an investment worth some S/7 billion (over US$2.020 billion).
The covenant is aimed at generating jobs and better living conditions for millions of Peruvian citizens.

On June 22, Peru and the United Kingdom signed the Government-to-Government Agreement for the Reconstruction of the North, following the same execution model that ensured the success of the Lima 2019 Pan American Games.

Thus, the UK will be in charge of executing the Comprehensive Plan for Reconstruction with Changes in the regions affected by the 2017 Coastal El Niño Phenomenon.

As is known, said weather event was characterized by heavy rains, landslides, and floods, which destroyed infrastructure and crops, leaving many citizens homeless.

Last Monday, the Head of State specified that an amount higher than S/1 billion (above US$288 million) will be allocated to nine regions of the country following the signing of the Government-to-Government Agreement until completion of the current year.

The Head of State specified that the regions of Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Ancash, Lima, Ica, Huancavelica, and Cajamarca are the ones to directly benefit from this contract.
