The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday affirmed that his administration will urgently attend to the population's demands in the Valley of Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM).

"I call and demand each minister to attend to the demands of Peru, specifically prioritizing what the VRAEM is, because the demands of the VRAEM must be urgently attended to," Mr. Castillo said after completing the 7th Decentralized Council of Ministers in Samugari district.

Likewise, the Head of State called on VRAEM authorities to discuss and prioritize the needs of the population residing in that area.

"Such as the airport, the highways, and also the Autonomous University of VRAEM for our children," he mentioned.

"Today, we have just committed, and I am announcing here that we are going to inject a budget to formalize an executing unit similar to the Reconstruction with Changes Program, with the aim of injecting a budget to the VRAEM and attend to its needs urgently; and I call so that these peoples are listened to," he added.

Furthermore, the top official indicated that in the next Council of Ministers the Executive Branch will announce an immediate alternative in response to the rise in prices of essential goods.

Regarding the bill to submit the call for a Constituent Assembly to popular consultation, President Castillo said he is sure that Congress of the Republic will approve this proposal.

"We are sure that Congress will be on the side of deep Peru; we are sure that they (lawmakers) will approve it. From then on, we must only be listened to, but the demands of the Peruvian people must be met because there is a budget and what this country hosts must be (for the benefit) of the most remote peoples, like this area of the VRAEM," he indicated.

Lastly, Mr. Castillo pointed out that the budgets, which are being injected into local and regional governments, must be known first-hand by the population of that zone, so that demanded public works are implemented.

"There are many stalled projects that had been carried out for several years, thousands of Soles (Peruvian money) lost due to corruption. We are making an effort so that these stalled (public) works are given the green light once and for all, and we can start to deliver them to the peoples nationwide," he concluded.
