Peru: President leads 7th Decentralized Council of Ministers

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo led the 7th Decentralized Council of Ministers session which took place at Palmapampa Educational Center in Samugari district, La Mar province, on Wednesday.

The objective of this meeting was to decentralize and articulate the efforts by the Executive Branch within Peruvian regions to address in situ, together with the population and its regional-local authorities, the Agenda for Territorial Development of the Valley of Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM). It was intended to seek solutions aimed at closing inequality gaps, using dialogue as a mechanism.

Governors Carlos Rua (Ayacucho), Baltazar Lantaron (Apurimac), Jean Paul Benavente (Cusco), Maciste Diaz (Huancavelica), and Fernando Orihuela (Junin) were present at the meeting.

This event was also attended by Prime Minister Anibal Torres; State ministers; district mayors of Andahuaylas and Chincheros (Apurimac), Huanta and La Mar (Ayacucho), La Convencion (Cusco), Churcampa and Tayacaja (Huancavelica); as well as representatives of native communities and social organizations.

The activity began with the speeches by Samugari Mayor Abraham Vila, followed by the representative of the Apurimac River Ashaninka Organization; social and native organizations; district mayors; and other Executive Branch officials.
