The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Friday affirmed that his Government will secure enough COVID-19 vaccines so that the next administration, which will take office on July 28, can continue with the immunization process.

"We already have the sufficient number of vaccines needed from now thru the end of this year to immunize all Peruvians. We are continuing with the negotiations in a very intense way," he expressed.

Likewise, the top official reiterated his commitment to complete the immunization of all senior citizens before the end of his term in office, adding that they can check their vaccination schedule on the Pongo el Hombro (I lend the shoulder) platform.

"In the coming months, we will be completing the vaccination of all older adults. The commitment of the Transition and Emergency Government is to immunize all those over 60 years of age, who are 4.3 million Peruvians," he emphasized.

The Peruvian leader also asserted that the vaccine is the best defense to face the pandemic. However, it does not replace biosafety measures, such as the correct use of masks and physical distancing.
