The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday affirmed that National Citizen Security Council meetings will be decentralized in order to grant solutions to the country's areas that face greater incidence of delinquency and crime.
Mrs. Boluarte participated at the "Con Punche Regional" dialogue roundtable for peace and governability held in Peru's northern Lambayeque region.
"As we move forward, we will decentralize these meetings and we will surely schedule them in order of priority, where there is greater incidence of delinquency or crime; we will be in that place in the first order and thus, cascading throughout the national territory, these meetings will be held in a decentralized manner," she expressed.
The top official also called on everyone to work together against this scourge that affects all regions.
Visit to Puno
The President was asked about when she would visit southern Puno region.
Mrs. Boluarte indicated that since the beginning of her administration (December 2022) various government officials have been constantly travelling to said area in order to dialogue with all authorities.
"I ask you to abandon the forceful measures and bet on dialogue and economic recovery in Puno, (...) it is time to set aside the political stances, because protest marches did not put topics on the social agenda; they merely used to raise political requests," she expressed.
In this regard, the top official said these requests do not go through the Executive Branch. She also mentioned that neither the President of the Republic nor State ministers "are in the position to solve the political issues raised by some protesters in Puno."
"What that small group is asking for is that Congress be dissolved; I cannot dissolve Congress. They are asking for a Constituent Assembly, (but) I cannot do that. They are asking that Pedro Castillo be released, I cannot release him; they are asking for early elections, and we submitted two bills; they also ask for my resignation, but nothing will be gained with my resignation, and resigning is not a choice for me," she concluded.
