The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday requested the elderly and the population in general to have peace of mind and be confident that the COVID-19 vaccine will reach everyone, as he confirmed that immunization will be gradual.

"Everyone will receive the vaccine; we make a gradual process with those registered and not registered at different institutions; everyone will receive the vaccine," he expressed.

During the supervision of vaccination at Canevaro nursing home in Lima, the top official said that the Government is ready to extend the brigades as new doses arrive and the immunization expands.

"There will be a well-organized vaccination pace to proceed calmly and well, in such a way that older adults and the people, who are on the frontline, will be vaccinated (...)," he indicated.

Moreover, the Peruvian leader reaffirmed that his administration's objective is to ensure the purchase of doses so that all Peruvians are immunized in 2021.

Additionally, Mr. Sagasti affirmed that the process of production, testing, distribution, and administration of a vaccine is difficult. Thus, the government makes an effort to explain it in a simple way and apologized if they had not come across clearly.
