Peru's PM: No senior citizen will remain unvaccinated

Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Monday assured that no older adult will be excluded from the vaccination against COVID-19 for not being affiliated to the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) or not being a member of any of the programs run by the Ministry of Health.

Within this framework, the high-ranking official indicated that the National Registry of Identification and Civil Status' (Reniec) roll serves as the essential reference for immunization purposes.

Likewise, the Cabinet chief assured that the entire population will be reached out for the vaccination process.

In this sense, the Prime Minister said that President Francisco Sagasti's administration works in coordination with local governments to include the entire population into the registry.

Lastly, the government's spokesperson expressed her special appreciation to all public servants of the local, regional, and central governments —in particular those of the health sector because, at difficult times, they continue to carry out their duties with responsibility and great commitment to the country.
