Peru's President: Contagion level has decreased, but virus persists

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that COVID-19 contagion level has decreased in Peru.

However, the Head of State warned that the virus persists. Therefore, the top official urged the population to remain vigilant.



Furthermore, the statesman indicated that a more effective control will be carried out for the fulfillment of sanitary protocols, within the framework of the current economic reactivation.

Thus, operations will be carried out at shopping centers and other premises, in order to supervise compliance with the established limits and avoid crowds.


He also asked the population for patience and perseverance to continue complying with the measures decreed by the Government, which are aimed at safeguarding the health and lives of all citizens.

Remarks were made during a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima. The President was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and other Cabinet members on the occasion.
