The
President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, on Wednesday welcomed with great joy the confirmation that Pope Leo XIV will visit Peru from November 11 to 17, saying it is "news that fills millions of Peruvians with hope."
Via social media, the Head of State said His Holiness' arrival will be "a moment of coming together for our faith and a message of hope for our country."
"Holy Father, we await you with open hearts to welcome you back home to Peru," Fujimori expressed.
Following the meeting, the minister said at a press conference that the Supreme Pontiff's visit to the country will help strengthen unity and reconciliation among Peruvians.
The Cabinet member also mentioned that the Government is in constant communication with the Apostolic Nunciature to coordinate all the details of the Pope's visit.
Espa noted that Peru will provide all the necessary resources to ensure it is "a complete success."
"President (Keiko) Fujimori is very enthusiastic about the visit, which I believe will be very beautiful and very special, knowing the affection the Pope has for Peru," he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Vatican announced that Pope Leo XIV will travel to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17 after accepting invitations from the three countries' heads of state.
