The
Peruvian Judicial Branch on Wednesday declared unfounded the preliminary question brought up by
ex-President Pedro Castillo in order to dismiss an investigation into him for the alleged crime of rebellion.
In his request, Castillo affirms that he had not gone through a political pre-trial for the purpose of the aforementioned process.
Nevertheless, the Supreme Court of Preparatory Investigation declared the preliminary question unfounded.
As is known, Congress gave the green light to end the prerogative of a political pre-trial investigation into Pedro Castillo for the flagrant commission of crimes and declared that there was place for legal cause.
Pedro Castillo is currently investigated for the alleged crime of rebellion (alternatively conspiracy).
The ex-president is currently held at Barbadillo prison located in Lima's Ate district.
