Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti on Thursday referred to the expansion of the oxygen supply network in Peru, highlighting that —in the coming weeks— the country will rely on more plants supplied with this vital element.

"The country had three centers hosting oxygen plants, but thanks to the support from religious groups, companies and regional governments, we already have 26 plants operating in 26 establishments. 64 oxygen plants are projected to be set up nationwide over the next few weeks," she announced.

Vaccines

The high-ranking official took the opportunity to detail that there are currently more than 150 vaccines in development around the world, six of which are in phase three.

Within this framework, four institutions have been interested in Peru, and two other organizations have engaged in contact to find out the viability of a future purchase and use in the national territory.

In this sense, the Cabinet member announced that the multisectoral commission —which is looking for access to the vaccines— is analyzing the economic part, the negotiation for access, safety and the necessary procedures.
