The success and lifting of the lockdown will depend on everyone, said on Tuesday
Defense Minister Nuria Esparch, who appealed to civic awareness to cut the spread of COVID-19.
The Cabinet member explained that the Council of Ministers evaluates and makes the necessary changes to the measures adopted within the framework of the
targeted lockdown that began last Sunday, adding that she hopes the transmission can be contained to resume activities.
"The success and lifting of the lockdown depend on all of us. The Government can make all the focused efforts and necessary decisions, but nothing can be done without the active participation of the population," Esparch told the press.
In this sense, the minister called on the population to continue to follow the health measures in place, even when the Government understands that it is difficult for many people to stay at home as they have to work, which is why the lockdown is a targeted restriction.
"We appeal to everyone's civility and values, to think of people around us, of friends. We all have been affected by the pandemic economically and when a workmate, friend, or relative passed away. Please, let no one else die, it depends on us," she said.
After supervising the implementation of
Tayta Operation in Lima's Ventanilla district, Esparch emphasized that 55,000 members of the Armed Forces have been deployed at various checkpoints to support the National Police in monitoring the compliance with the measures.
She went on to say that 423 Tayta Operation interventions have so far been carried out, which provided 320,000 people with medical and prevention services in response to COVID-19.
