Peru's Culture Min: All citizens play a role in defeating COVID-19

Peruvian Culture Minister Alejandro Neyra visits Ayacucho to supervise actions against the COVID-19 pandemic.

All Peruvians play an important role in defeating the coronavirus pandemic, Culture Minister Alejandro Neyra affirmed on Saturday.

On the occasion, the high-ranking official arrived in the Andean city of Ayacucho to oversee the Territorial Aid Operation for Treatment and Isolation in Response to COVID-19 (Tayta Operation).

Tayta Operation assists in their homes the most vulnerable citizens, such as those over 60 years of age, and people with chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, among others) that aggravate their health status in case they become infected.

"We must be aware that protecting the health (of citizens) is everyone's responsibility; the fight against the pandemic will be won by all of us," he expressed.

In this sense, the Cabinet member called for reflection and for citizens to be aware that this fight will be won thanks to everyone's efforts.

"If each one of us has irresponsible attitudes, our loved ones and our families are likely to be put at risk; each one of us has an important role to play in order to defeat the pandemic," he said in remarks to TV Peru.

Earlier today, Neyra traveled to Ayacucho —joined by three parliamentarians from this region— to supervise the Tayta mega-operation currently underway in the area.
