16:30 | Cusco (Cusco region), Mar. 15.

Two medical oxygen plants sent by the Ministry of Health (Minsa) to southern Cusco region are already resupplying patients affected by COVID-19 with this vital medical input.

The modern items were transported, disembarked, set up, and tested amid great expectations of Cusco's population, which is facing the impact of the second wave.

One of the plants was sent to the Regional Hospital of Cusco, and the other to Chumbivilcas Province hospital —each one with the capacity to supply 48 10-cubic-meter cylinders on a daily basis.

Response capacity

Thanks to these oxygen plants, the regional response capacity to the high demand for oxygen due to the pandemic is being strengthened.

Regional Health Management Office (Geresa) Manager in Cusco Juan Spelucin indicated that refilling cylinders is essential for meeting the requirements of health facilities in rural areas and also of out-of-hospital patients who are in need of oxygen.
