The Ministry of Health (Minsa) signed an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) and sector companies such as Southern Peru Copper Corporation Compañía Minera Antamina S.A. (Antamina Mining Company), and Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A. (Cerro Verde Mining Society).

The document stipulates that medical oxygen will be imported from the neighboring country of Chile during six months.

It was signed by Health Minister Oscar Ugarte, Southern Finance Vice-President Jacob Ruisanchez, Antamina General Manager Victor Gobitz, Cerro Verde Corporate Affairs Vice-President Julia Torreblanca, and SNMPE General Manager Pablo de La Flor.

The Ministry of Health stressed that the 1,000 tons to be donated are equivalent to more than 70,000 10-cubic meter oxygen cylinders, which will be very useful in order to reduce the existing deficit in regions such as Moquegua, Arequipa, Ica, Lima, and Ancash, among others.
