00:56 | Lima, Apr. 8.

Peru's trade balance showed a surplus of US$326 million in February. Thus, the number accumulated in the first two months of 2019 reached a surplus of US$774 million, Central Reserve Bank (BCR) has reported.

Exports totaled US$3.52 billion in February, 3.8% lower than the figure recorded in the same month last year, as a result of the decrease in export prices (-8.5%).

In the second month of 2019, the average exports volume expanded 5.1%.

Likewise, traditional exports volume grew 5.4%, especially underpinned by fishmeal, copper, and natural gas.

In addition, non-traditional shipments volume rose 3.4% due to increased exports of agricultural, fishing, and non-metallic mining products.

Moreover, imports grew 2.8% compared to February 2018 and totaled US$3.20 billion as a result of increased input and capital good imports.

The imports volume index increased 3.2%, while prices declined 0.4%.
