Peru to launch new gourmet products at U.S. Summer Fancy Food Show

15:57 | Lima, Jun. 27.

A Peruvian delegation of 24 companies will take part at Summer Fancy Food Show 2018 —the largest specialty food fair in the U.S.— presenting over 100 innovative value-added products.

The event will take place in New York on June 30-July 2, 2018, according to the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).

Slated to feature more than 2,600 exhibitors, with representation from 57 countries around the world, the show will gather over 16,000 qualified attendees who play an important role in the specialty food industry.

These attendees include importers, representatives of department stores, supermarkets, distributors, restaurants, as well as other food and beverage-related businesses.

PromPeru has a particular interest in developing and consolidating exports of gourmet products due to the high commercial added value of this offer.

The Superfoods Peru brand is expected to disseminate the Inca country's products in North America, as well as in segments demanding the line for its quality and nutritional properties.

It must be noted the Peruvian delegation exports about US$620 million, which accounts for nearly 10% of the agricultural sector's total shipments in 2017.

Additionally, Peru expects to close deals worth US$70 million over the next 12 months with its participation at Summer Fancy Food Show.

Peruvian gourmet products to be featured in this food industry trade event include pestos, sauces, vegetable bruschettas, vinaigrettes, salads, jams, tapenades, dips, quinoa derivatives, as well as ready-to-eat products. These include superfoods like asparagus, red and black quinoa, artichokes, mixed vegetables, and different types of peppers.

Peru's flagship drink, pisco, will have a special space in the exhibit as well.
