Peru: Exports to China not affected by coronavirus

16:18 | Lima, Feb. 14.

The Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) on Friday reaffirmed that exports to China have —so far— not been affected by the coronavirus outbreak.

The foreign trade sector has been constantly monitoring the situation through Peru's Trade Office based in Beijing (Ocex Beijing).

This office informed that the main ports —through which Peruvian cargo enters the Asian Giant such as: Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou— have been receiving imports from various parts of the world.

According to Ocex Beijing, the reincorporation of customs clearance and distribution staff has been regularized, which will gradually lead to reducing the delays that could have occurred in the foreign trade logistics chain.

It should be noted that no Peruvian cargo has been reported as detained at these ports.

China accelerates food entry

Mincetur said that the Chinese Government, for its part, has established temporary measures to support private companies in order to accelerate the entry of imported food and its distribution.

Among them, there is the possibility of carrying out the customs declaration process online before the arrival of the container, without the need to deliver physical documents at the port.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism affirmed that it will continue monitoring the situation and that any additional information will be released through official channels.

It must be noted no coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Peru.
