Citizens aged 32 and over will be vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Seventh Vaccinathon taking place on September 4-5 in Lima Metropolitan Area and Callao region, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) confirmed on Friday.

Minsa's Immunization Director Gabriela Jimenez indicated that the immunization age continues to be lowered, adding that the vaccination rate will be higher in September due to the arrival of a greater number of doses from overseas.

"Tomorrow (Saturday), we start with people aged 32 and 33. If the people between 34 and 35 years old did not receive their vaccine on time, we are still offering it to them these days," she told RPP radio and TV station.

Like on previous events, other groups called are pregnant women, older adults who only have received one dose or none, and citizens whose names appeared on the Pongo el Hombro (I Lend a Shoulder) website but have not attended to date.

However, she said it is necessary to close gaps —especially in the provinces— to manage age groups more uniformly nationwide.

For his part, Health Minister Hernando Cevallos announced that the Government has set the goal of vaccinating all those over 30 years of age during the month of September.
