Peru's Private Investment Promotion Agency (ProInversion) on Tuesday presented the institutional objectives and project-awarding goals expected through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), Projects in Assets, and Works for Taxes for 2023 and 2024.

The presentation was led by ProInversion Executive-Director Jose Salardi, who announced that the agency aims to award up to 16 PPP projects and Projects in Assets worth US$3.082 billion in 2023.

Among the projects to be awarded this year are: Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud) hospitals in Piura and Chimbote (US$323 million), WWTP Puerto Maldonado (US$86 million), AWS-3 and 2.3 GHz bands for internet and 4G mobile telephony (US$268 million), and the 500 kV electrical transmission line at the Piura Nueva-Frontera Substation (US$217 million).

They also include Ancon Industrial Park (US$762 million), electrical projects Enlace Huánuco-Tocache-Celendín-Trujillo and Celendín-Piura (both US$611 million), and San Juan de Marcona Port in a direct awarding scenario (US$520 million), among other initiatives.

Salardi explained the guidelines of his administration and strategic actions to be implemented with the main focus being the recovery and strengthening of stakeholder confidence in the PPP system.

"2023 will be the year of the relaunch of PPP projects in Peru. To achieve this, we are speeding up and streamlining procedures, standardizing contracts, and undertaking all articulated effort with ministries, authorities, and the private sector," the official emphasized.

He also stressed that improvements are being identified, which will contribute to greater reactivation of PPP processes in Peru.

"The relaunch of PPP projects has already begun, maintaining the guiding principles of transparency, promotion of competition, and a great sense of urgency," he emphasized.

It is important to specify that the total amount of 2022 awarding was matched in January 2023 because the entity awarded the Enlace Ica-Poroma and ITC Cáclic-Jaén Projects with an investment worth over US$73 million.

The institutional event was attended by Economy-Finance Minister and ProInversion Board Chairman, Alex Contreras, who spoke about the importance of economic reactivation and ProInversion's role in Peru.
