Peru President: We are tired of seeing corrupt judges

18:12 | Puno (Puno region), Aug. 23.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday stressed the urgency of the justice system reform by recalling the shameful audio recordings which involved high-level judicial authorities in alleged corruption acts.

As is known, the Executive Branch had submitted a constitutional reform bill to Congress aimed at modifying the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) election system.

The CNM is in charge of appointing judges in the Inca country.

Although there are honest magistrates, the former —and now dismissed— CNM members were wrong and appointed many dishonest judges, the Peruvian leader affirmed.

"We, Peruvians, are tired of seeing corrupt judges. We must change the justice system," the President expressed in this sense.

"All of us must reject corruption," he added while standing before hundreds of Puno locals.

Likewise, he urged citizens to vote for the best candidates during the regional and municipal elections on October 7, since the Inca country is in need of honest authorities.

"We need honest people who will spend money wisely, we need people who reject corruption as much as we do (…)," he pointed out.

According to President Vizcarra, only by working together the population will be able to defeat corruption and change the institutions that have been infected by that scourge.

In his opinion, working intensely from different fronts would be the ideal approach in order to fight dishonesty and create development conditions for everyone.
