The President of the Republic, Jose Maria Balcazar, on Monday inspected gravel surfacing works on the Cutervo–Chiple stretch.

Within this framework, the Head of State said his administration will continue delivering projects and public works that had previously been stalled or left unfinished due to bureaucracy.

The Head of State noted this road improvement fulfills one of the commitments undertaken by his administration with both local authorities and ronderos (rural patrol groups) in Cajamarca region, northern Andean Peru.

The top official indicated that roads are a priority for the government.

"That is why I am here, to make this project a reality. There will be no more bureaucracy or paperwork here. The works must be carried out efficiently," he underscored, adding that he has a ministerial team that properly plans all projects nationwide.

Regarding the Cutervo–Chiple works, President Balcazar said he expects completion within the set deadline and called for permanent oversight by mayors.

The Head of State also proposed that local authorities advance an agenda to address their needs in road infrastructure, agriculture, and other sectors.

"You won't face any obstacles in reaching the Presidential Office, or I will come here," he pointed out.

The Cutervo–Chiple stretch is part of the Longitudinal de la Sierra Highway and constitutes a strategic corridor for regional connectivity.

Work on this road includes the placement of a new gravel layer and stabilizing additives, backed by an investment exceeding S/1.8 million (above US$516,000).
