Peru: President salutes confidence vote

00:11 | Lima, Aug. 12.

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra saluted the vote of confidence that Congress granted to the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Walter Martos.

"The unity of all Peruvians is essential to move forward," the Head of State wrote on Twitter.

In his speech, he addressed topics such as the fight against COVID-19 and the economic reactivation, among others.

Later, most legislators virtually expressed their views to the ministers.

In accordance with Article 130 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must attend Parliament —joined by his Cabinet— to present the Government's general policy and the principal measures pursued by the Executive Branch.

It must be noted that Peru is currently under a state of emergency imposed to prevent the COVID-19 from further spreading in the country.
