Peru: Ministerial Cabinet gets confidence vote

20:44 | Lima, Aug. 11.

After an extended session, Peru's Congress on Tuesday night granted its confidence to the Cabinet led by Prime Minister Walter Martos.

The Cabinet received 115 votes in favor, 5 against and 4 abstentions.

In his speech, he addressed topics such as the fight against COVID-19 and the economic reactivation, among others.

Later, most legislators virtually expressed their views to the ministers.

In accordance with Article 130 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister must attend Parliament —joined by his Cabinet— to present the Government's general policy and the principal measures pursued by the Executive Branch.

It must be noted that Peru is currently under a state of emergency imposed to prevent the COVID-19 from further spreading.
