President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday reaffirmed State-run agricultural bank Agrobanco Strengthening Law will enable small-scale farmers from all over the Inca country to access credit in order to boost their businesses.
Agrobanco is the State's main supporting tool aimed at guaranteeing the sustainable and constant development of the farming sector. It puts special emphasis on this area, including agro-industrial activities, as well as the processes for transformation, commercialization, and exportation of natural products emerged from the said sector.
"We believe, that as a Government, we must create a more fair, equitable, and sustainable country. For that reason, we must think about agriculture," the Head of State expressed.
According to the top official, farming is a productive-economic activity that sustains more than two million Peruvians nationwide.
"However, agriculture is diverse. Large investors' agriculture, agro-exports (…) are different from small-scale farmers' agriculture that needs the State's support," he added.
On the occasion, President Vizcarra was joined by Prime Minister Cesar Villanueva, as well as Ministers Gustavo Mostajo (Agriculture and Irrigation), and Carlos Oliva (Economy and Finance).
